Updated Batch Reports for Microsoft Dynamics RMS

Note:  These new reports are updated versions from an earlier posting.  These reports are now compatible with both Store Operations and Headquarters.

Download the Z Report Summary Report here and the Drill In Report here.  After downloading the files, open the zip file and copy the reports to your RMS Store Operations or Headquarters Reports folder.  By default, that folder is located in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Retail Management System\Store Operations\Reports or C:\Program Files\Microsoft Retail Management System\Headquarters\Reports.  Note: you may have to enable pop-up windows to download the report files.

Download the Z Report Tender Detail Report here.  After downloading the file, open the zip file and copy the report to your RMS Store Operations or Headquarters Reports folder.  By default, that folder is located in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Retail Management System\Store Operations\Reports or C:\Program Files\Microsoft Retail Management System\Headquarters\Reports.  Note: you may have to enable pop-up windows to download the report files.

After you copy the report files to your RMS Report folder, you can view the reports by launching RMS Store Manager or Headquarters Manager.  The reports will be located in the Reports Menu->Custom->Z Report Summary or Z Report Detailed.

The Summary report includes all of the Batch Totals found at the top of a Z report grouped by Closing Day and Register.  To view the detailed tender information for any batch on the Summary Report, double click on the batch number in the report.  Note for Headquarters use, you will have to add the Store ID to the filter on the detailed report.  It is visible in the last column on the summary report.

The Tender Detail report lists the tenders for batches and the tender open, close, shift, and open/close amounts.

The biggest need these reports fill is viewing your Z report totals for the entire store instead of just by register.

RMS Feature Pack 1 to be released September 1, 2010

Microsoft has set the release date for RMS 2.0 Feature Pack 1 for September 1, 2010.  Since its release in 2007, 3 Service Packs have been issued to correct issues that have been discovered and to enhance security and usability of Microsoft’s Retail Management System.  Microsoft’s most recent Statement of Direction listed the enhancements included in this feature pack and include Reporting Enhancements (KPIs, Inventory Turns, and more).  Inventory and Purchasing have added features as well, along with some documentation and compatibility updates.  But perhaps the most impressive addition of all is the Global Vouchers enhancement.  This will allow for better RMS integrated management of your gift cards, certificates, or store credit than was previously available.

The RMS 2.0 Feature Pack is available to customers who are current on their Microsoft Enhancements, so now is a great time to check in with your RMS Partner and make sure you have access to some great new features for your RMS implementation.  With this release Microsoft has stated that RMS 2.0 will have extended mainstream support through 2016, and a second feature pack is scheduled for 2012.  This second feature pack will contain big enhancements like destination based taxes, floating cashiers, and central HQ “warehouse” capabilities for your inventory tracking.  Stay tuned!   http://www.lanactech.com/?id=91&title=Microsoft_Dynamics_RMS

Microsoft Dynamics RMS for Wine Bars/Stores

While RMS does a great job of handling most retail functions, there are some industries that require extra functionality not available “out of the box”.  One example is liquor stores and bars.  One customer we work with is a wine bar/shop in Chicago.  They were fine with the selling and ordering of wine within RMS, but being a wine bar and hosting events they needed the capability to record tips and handle tabs.

For tracking tips, we gave them a custom button that printed a receipt that included a tip line, before the sale was complete.  Customers would fill out this receipt then the whole sale could be tendered with the tip included.  For handling customer tabs, we gave them another custom button that used the RMS “Hold Transaction” function and provided a quick, easy to use interface to recall transactions, add an item, and put the transaction back on hold without having to re-enter the transaction reference.  It has been very successful for them.

For more information on this new product, download our documentation here.

  • Key metrics in manual purchasing.
  • Centralized Purchasing Improvements
  • Partial Shipments and payments.
  • Landed cost.
  • Global Vouchers managed centrally across all stores.
  • Documentation Updates

Being current on your Microsoft Service Plan is critical because if you have lapsed you be unable to receive this Feature Pack.  Contact LANAC Technology today to discuss getting current or staying current with your Microsoft Service Plan!

Customer Zip Codes in RMS

InterDyn LANAC Technology’s Zip Code Add-In for RMS prompts your cashiers to ask for a customer’s zip code at the start of each transaction.  This zip code allows you to track your sales by the zip codes your customers are coming from.  Many customers are reluctant to give out their full address, feeling that junk mail will follow them home.

This is faster than adding a new customer into RMS because the cashier just enters the zip code and the add-in does the rest.  If the zip code has already been entered, the system will match it up and allow the cashier to continue with the sale.  If the zip code is new to the system, the add-in performs an internet lookup to match the city and state and adds this information to the RMS database.

Also included are a Zip Code sales report for Store and HQ Manager and two SQL Server Reporting Services Reports to display Zip Code Sales.  Click here to view the drilldown by State reportClick here to view the drilldown by Zip report.

Microsoft SharePoint Powers 2010 Virtual Kickoff!

REDMOND, Wash. — May 12, 2010 — Today business customers can dive into the next generation of productivity: Microsoft Office 2010 and Microsoft SharePoint 2010. Those who want a demonstration of what the new software can do have a unique venue via today’s virtual kickoff.

To help celebrate the availability of the new products, Microsoft is throwing its largest ever simultaneous worldwide launch. In addition to on-site activities at dozens of the company’s subsidiaries, the launch will be accessible live and on-demand through a new virtual launch platform built on SharePoint 2010. The company expects more than half a million people worldwide to participate via the launch website, says Carol Matthews, a senior digital marketing manager for Microsoft’s Information Worker Product Group.

“It is an extremely important milestone for these products, and today’s launch will help amplify the moment and get as many people as possible participating and talking about them,” says Matthews, who headed the cross-group team that built the virtual event and its content. “Without SharePoint 2010, we couldn’t have afforded to do this launch at this scale.”
